Rainbow in the Desert

While Heidi and I were walking the mountain at Thunderbird Park early this morning; we saw this rainbow in the distance. It is unusual to see such a site here, along with this much cloud cover. Ya, the bit of rain is exceptional too!

Wile E. Coyote

Well I have heard people say to watch out for the coyote out here, and today I saw 3 of them in Sun City! Didn't have my camera, so had to use my cell phone and only captured 2 of the 3. They are sly fellas, and scraggly looking, but sneaky.

EPIPHANY!

Epiph a ny... i-ˈpi-fə-nē (1): a usually sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something (2): an intuitive grasp of reality through something (as an event) usually simple and striking (3): an illuminating discovery, realization, disclosure or a revealing scene or moment.

My life's epiphany momemt. For the first time in my lifetime, the President of the United States is younger than me. This is truley a historical moment!

Do You Believe in Miracles?

Do you believe in miracles? The Arizona Cardinals are Super Bowl Bound!!! Fighting the Philadelphia Eagles in a nail biting 4Th quarter, to win at the University of Phoenix Stadium in my new hometown of Glendale, Arizona. The final score: 32 to 25.

Their opponent in Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa on Feb. 1 will be the Pittsburg Steelers.

Glitter & Glow

Glendale, Arizona wraps up the holiday season with its annual "Glitter & Glow" Block Party. More than 75,000 people stroll the sidewalks and watch tethered balloons gently expand in the city streets as their pilots "Fire 'Em Up!" It is an extravaganza with dozens of bands performing all styles of music, along with street performers...and yes, even the Arizona Cardinals' Cheerleaders!

A lot of color and activity in Historic Downtown Glendale as the city says farewell to its annual light display for this holiday season.

The Difference Between Night & Day

I hate to continue to rub it in, but the other day J sent me a picture on my cell phone of the thermometer
registering minus 60 degrees F. Now, that is pretty cold and I told him that it was cold here too. It was 50 degrees that morning here, and he reminded me that the difference was 110 degrees! Wow, I had not thought of it in that light.
Yesterday, the temperature at Ft. Greely, Alaska was at 50 degrees F, warmer than the -11 degrees registered back in Michigan! So he took the time to put on shorts and a long sleeve T-shirt, and sent me this photo (left).
With a bit of humor, that my son did not appreciate, I sent him this photo (right) of me this morning in shorts and T-shirt, on this sunny and 75 day! A rare occurrence for him to be able to do this, but for us living here in Phoenix, it is just an everyday occasion! Tag, he is it. Shorts in the snow, I can handle, but I hope he doesn't get into polar swimming! :)

Lost in the 70's

This is Heidi and Me at a 1970's party in Tempe, AZ. This was a post holiday office party at the house of Heidi's boss. Yes, that is a tie-dyed Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young T-shirt that I am wearing, and no, it was not part of my wardrobe that I brought to Arizona with me. ...and that outfit that Heidi is wearing? Well, we did some shopping at Goodwill, and found these 1970 era duds, believe it our not! Come on, you got to admit, this is a hoot!

We had fun and also watched the Arizona Cardinals beat the Carolina Panthers to make it to the final playoffs against the Philadelphia Eagles for a shot at the Superbowl. GO CARDINALS! (Hey, they are better than the zero win and 16 loss season for the Detroit Lions!) LOL

This is me, with Jill & Ardith who work with Heidi. (Jill was trying to be Farah Fawcett)

\/ Peace Out (early 70's lingo)

AZ Cardinals 30 Atlanta Falcons 24

The Moment arrives for Cardinals fans:

by Erin Zlomek - Jan. 3, 2009 06:52 PM The Arizona Republic

In a swarm of red jerseys at Saturday's Arizona Cardinals game - the franchise's first home playoff appearance since 1947 - the longtime fans were easiest to pick out, and they enjoyed a historic Cardinals victory, 30-24 over Atlanta. ...to continue, read the link above.
__________

While Heidi and I did not attend the game tonight, we did eat dinner in the shadow of the University of Phoenix Domed Stadium and witness the excitement of the fans as they romped Atlanta to send them to the next phase of NFL Playoffs.

After dinner, Heidi and I enjoy a pose outside Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville Bar; where it is always 5 o'clock somewhere. We came down here tonight with our new best friend in the Phoenix area, Victor Aziaku, a software architect from Togo, West Africa. He knows where to go and how to party! Good call, Victor!
